Northlink Ferries operate services between Scrabster and Stromness (2 hour crossing) or between Aberdeen and Kirkwall (overnight). Scheduled flights to and from Kirwall airport are operated by British Airways/Loganair. There is also a seasonal ferry service between Burwick (South Ronaldsay) and John O' Groats.

From Kirkwall

Take the A965 towards Stromness. After Finstown turn right for Dounby and Birsay (A986). 3 miles north of Dounby turn left at Twatt Kirk (signposted Bay of Skaill, Marwick, RSPB Loons). When you reach the T-junction turn right, then left at the signpost for Marwick Bay.

From Stromness

Turn right out of the ferry terminal, following signs for Kirkwall (A965). Leaving Stromness, at the top of the hill turn left (Birsay A967). Where the road forks, take the left fork (Bay of Skaill, Marwick B9056). Follow the road past Skaill Loch and the Bay of Skaill. At the crossroads at Isbister's Stores turn left (Birsay). Turn left at the signpost for Marwick Bay.

You will be able to see Choin on the hillside below the Kitchener Memorial. Take the right turn signposted Langskaill. Follow this road until you reach the right fork to arrive at Choin, the first house on your left.
